ASTRA POLLS BROKERS' ATTITUDES

It has been six months since Astra Mortgages was launched to the whole market.  The demand from distributors for mortgage products via our Point of Sale Decision (PoS-D) system has been overwhelming and Astra’s team have been working flat out to cope with the demand for the service.

Stewart Hunter (Head of Introduced Mortgages at Astra) said: “We have been busy both managing and educating brokers on how the PoS-D system works.  As a result we now see 82 per cent of applications submitted via PoS-D.  73% of those applications are for products that we offer specifically for PoS-D applications only.

Astra conducted a poll of over 100 top brokers’ opinions on Astra Mortgages during July-August 2008, some of the findings are given below:

• 89.9% of brokers readily identified the Astra brand within the market, of these 94% considered Astra’s message to be clear.

• 99% of brokers surveyed said that instant decisions were a useful tool in supporting everyday broker business activity.

• 98.1% of brokers surveyed who had used the system stated they were happy to use PoS-D and rated the system as very good or better.
• Brokers confirmed that the top three benefits that Astra brought to the intermediary mortgage market were the PoS-D system, good service and product pricing using Basel II.
